"NEW" Sauerkraut Eating Contest September 17th, 2010 Friday at 8:15 & at 9:30 pm in the Black Forest Garten 18 and under-boy or girl, Men, Women Categories - Time and weight - 2 minutes timed by the sauerkraut polka to eat 2 pounds of sauerkraut.

STEIN CARRYING CONTEST (COED) Sunday, September 19th 2010 at 4:30 pm Contact Person: Sue Weide
Contestants carry 4 plastic beer mugs filled with water in each hand while running (?) around an obstacle course. Winner is the fastest with the least spillage. Open to both men and women in age groups 18-30, 31-45 and 46+. Prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in each age class.

Registration for Euchre starts at 9:00am with play to begin at 10:00am SHARP! Registration for Schafskof begins at 12:30pm and play begins at 1:00pm. Both tournaments are held in the Activity Center. Trophies & prize money for 1st place in both with prize money to the rest as determined by the number of participants. Registration fee of $2.00 is required as is a button for admission to the grounds. All money is given out in prizes.

Find The Mecki Starts Thursday, September 9th 2010
The MECKI is a fictional character that loves tricks and practical jokes. The Mecki is about 3-1/2 to 4 inches high doll that resembles a hedgehog dressed in German clothing. The mecki is hidden in the Jefferson area in a public place. Clues to his location are in the Daily Jefferson County Union newspaper and posted in the Library window. A cash prize goes to the person who finds the Mecki and returns it to the Chamber of Commerce office. Sponsored by: Wedl's Hamburger Stand & Ice Cream Parlor, Pitz Stop. Here is the 2009 Mecki. Bed Races Sunday, September 19th, 2010 Contact Persons: Seth Kemmeter & Barry Schmidt--Contest will be held on Main Street in Downtown Jefferson.
This event will take place on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. before the Gemuetlichkeit parade at noon. Registration & bed check will be at 10:30 a.m. on the corner of Hwy 18 & Hwy 26. In order to participate, you must be 18 years of age.
Your bed must include: Metal frame, twin size mattress or bigger, 4 tires touching the ground (should be at all times!) **brakes that the driver can stop the bed by themselves whithin an alotted distance, steering, decorations to go with the sponsor's/Team theme
Your team will consist of 5 members: *4 pushers *1 rider (1 rider at all times, no more no less!) *Accumulative age of team must total 130 years or older *All must wear "team pajamas" *Driver must wear a helmet, knee & elbow pads while riding on the bed.
This race will consist of a rally Down Main Street starting at the corner of 18 & 26 for 1 block more or less. There will be 5 activities with a theme around "BED TIME" where teams will have to perform several activities. You and your four team mates will have to finish this in the fastest time to win. Some of the activities will be pouring & carrying coffee, hitting bed bugs with a shoe, counting sheep (or pigs or Mecki) change sheets/clothes, take two & call me in the Morning! Cash prizes will be handed out at the judges stand after the race, all fees will be given back in prizes. Bed racers are asked to take beds through the parade after the race.
To enter you must fill out an entry form at the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, or print the form from our Contest Forms page and pay $25.00 per team. You can mail your registration form and entry to P.O. Box 242, Jefferson WI 53549. Please make checks payable to Gemuetlichkeit Days, Inc.
