Debbie is the oldest of six children born to former Jefferson residents, Tom and Mary Lee (Mundschau) Kennedy. She grew up in Madison, WI graduating from LaFollette High School in 1977. After high school, she attended UW Whitewater and graduated from Scientific College of Cosmetology. Deb has been employed at the School District of Jefferson since 1992. Currently, she is the administrative assistant at East Elementary School.
The Wedls were married in 1980 and have two children, Heidi (27) and Carter (24). Heidi is a graduate of UW-Eau Claire and teaches biology at New Holstein High School. Carter graduated from UW-Oshkosh and is a manager for Music in Motion at the Madison office. The family also includes a miniature schnauzer named Annie.
Charlie and Deb are members of St. John's Lutheran Church. In their spare time, they enjoy biking, Badger games, Jefferson Blue Devils and spending time with great friends and family.
The King's ancestors came from Eschenbach, Bavaria in the 1840's. The Queen's family immigrated from Bohemia and Austria.
Charlie and Deb are very honored to have been chosen as the 2010 King and Queen. They are looking forward to many new adventures while being able to represent the city of Jefferson. They extend their thanks to Mary and Gary Haag, Gregg and Sara Heideman and Tim and Sara Babcock...the three sets of Royalty that chose (and tutored) the Wedls for the 2010 King and Queen, as well as those who nominated them.
